started the day with topping up the hot tub… it is always interesting as to how often it needs to happen…

I am very happy with the new nozzle…

the hose is still in the basement, so it took a bit of time to get it expanded and up the stairs…

hoping to get it moved outside by the end of the week;-)…

will have to see if the temperature has returned to 103° by bedtime, so I can have a hot tub…

Tuesday I found a rope and attached it to the biggest pot under the far side of the deck… previously it had been on the main deck… I was able to pull it out and then drag it all the way around to the deck beside the hot tub…

once I got it into its new spot, I set in the large obelisk and then planted many morning glory seeds and one of the dahlias…

put a small pail over the top of the dahlia and hope that protects it from the silly weather, lol…

I think I like it in this new spot and am hoping it will fill up with the morning glories and that the dahlia will grow tall and produce flowers…

this morning I had some fun with the bouquet I purchased last Wednesday for my birthday…

I divided it into five small containers…

they went into the bathroom, kitchen, den, and bedroom…

it is always such fun to be able to make new arrangements and then take photos of them;-)…

Sunday was glorious… I spent most of the day in the garden…

in the morning I read on the deck in the sunshine and then washed the chairs on the back deck… the birds had been sitting above them, lol…

once they were clean and dry, I put cushions on two of them and set up the umbrella over the one they particularly like to rest over…

I moved poles and filled feeders… had to use the sledge hammer to get one all the way in…

then spent time on the back deck trying to identify birds, and reading;-)…

Merlin told me there were a large variety of birds in the garden, but didn’t want to identify them when I took pictures… argh…

lots to do yet, but it was fun to move forward a bit;-)…

On Friday morning I turned the switch on one of the new solar lights that are currently hanging in the dining room…

later in the day it was lit for just a few minutes which was amazing as there hadn’t really been much sunshine…

when I looked into the living/dining area after dark, it was on again…

and casting a beautiful pattern on the floor…

on Saturday, I hung up two in the dining room and switched all on… then I put one outside by the backdoor…

lovely patterns everywhere…

on Wednesday we went for a quick visit to Safeway to pick up a few items…

I got flowers and a plant with two types of hyacinth, tulips am daffodils…

seemed like a lovely birthday treat;-)…

and it was seniors’ day so the saving was the same amount as the bouquet…

that was a treat…

the few items did end up filling two bags, lol…

what a lovely day…

had a pedicure, which was a real treat as I haven’t had one since covid… the massage portion was bliss

received cards, gifts, texts, and numerous phone calls… my kids were trying to see how many times they could sing happy birthday to me throughout the day, lol…

enjoyed the technology that let the Ottawa kids send me presents via Amazon…

treats turned up throughout the day, and a gorgeous bouquet arrived in the afternoon;-)…

dinner was barbecued steak and lobster with asparagus, mushrooms and tiny potatoes prepared by my housemate…

and considering the crazy weather – rain, snow, and bits of sunshine – barbecuing was a gift…

a final touch was a small portion of chocolate mousse;-)…

ended the night with a hot tub…

I am truly blessed…

woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground and then spent a good portion of the morning at various windows watching the elm tree two doors down being removed…

the gentle thumping of the equipment was like background noise, lol…

there were at least five trucks, plus a small tracker and quite a few workers…

they used a machine I haven’t seen before… it was run from the ground and had a claw that grabbed the branch or trunk and cut through it… then it lowered it to the ground where the tractor picked it up and put the end into the chipper, where another worker turned it on and filled up a truck with the wood chips…

seemed like it was all very safe for those working…

as you drive down the street, it is hard to even tell where they were working…

on Monday’s walk I focussed on checking out the trees as on Sunday I watched a webinar on bird nests and eggs…

this is down by the creek and if you look closely at the bottom of the trees, you can see where the beaver has been busy…

was excited to discover a mallard couple in a puddle in a field…

wasn’t able to get too close because I didn’t want to startle them but had a lovely few minutes watching them;-)…

also collected many Pokémon items…
