spent time in the garden doing cleanup…
emptied soil from pots and stacked them in the shed…
repotted some pansies to bring inside, brought the butterfly bush into the basement and the hibiscus into the dining room…
after closing up the shed, I undid the bathtub pond pump and brought it inside to clean and put in the basement…

well, Wednesday was that day in the garden, sigh…
Hilda the Gardener came by and most of the planters in the front yard and garden were cleaned out…
as an experiment, a few plants which had been in the planters were put into the ground to see if we could reuse them in the spring… and we tried that with the strawberry basket as well…
everything looks tidy and ready for the next seasons…
I am going to miss time spent in the garden although I am so happy with how many days I was ensconced in the space…
there will be many wonderful memories to enjoy during those freezing cold days in the middle of winter…
but for now, here’s hoping for more beautiful days in this magical space;-)…

the mandevilla came in a few days ago since the weather is cooling off…
my grandson carried it from the back, through the kitchen and into the living room…
currently it is residing in the front window… amazing how much smaller it makes the room, lol…
the flowers were just starting to open and I am hoping that all the buds open without falling off…

had a delicious supper on Tuesday…
visited the Wolseley Farmers Market and got some lovely items…
flowers; a beautiful pork chop; green, yellow, and purple beans; garlic; small new potatoes; little eggplants; free range eggs; an acorn squash; and a cob of corn…
cooked up, cooled and reheated the potatoes… then warmed up some chicken wings from the night before and boiled some of the beans…
yum…
looking forward to more delicious meals from this bounty…

so excited last Wednesday to discover a water lily bud… I had pretty much given up hope of seeing one this year…
throughout the day I took photos as it worked towards opening…
it was at its peak on Saturday…
today it is getting ready to slide under the water… as the next bud begins to open…
what a wonderful treat as we move into cooler weather…
talk about blessed…

my bouquet subscription has come to an end and I came across this post I had written about my birthday bouquet…
I had an enjoyable time redoing it… this is how it looked on my birthday…
I removed the roses once they were spent…
it was time to do something new and this is what it became on May fourth…
used a cute teapot and a small glass for the next life of the bouquet…
added some of the statice to a container that was already filled…
and finally, used the container the flowers came in to set a cute new plant I recently purchased…
it is always such fun to change out the flowers as the bouquet ages, lol…
some great memories;-)…

had the most five or six delightful minutes in the garden this afternoon;-)…
I was eating the last delicious bits of yesterday’s Blizzard on the back deck and spotted a hummingbird in the garden…
for a long time we had feeders, but no hummingbirds, so we gave up… a few have flown through over the years, but none stayed around to snack…
it moved around slurping from the petunias which are everywhere in the space this year… from the six planters around the deck, to the morning glories in the dahlia planter in the centre of the yard, to the baskets hanging along the neighbour’s garage… and back again…
my camera was close by, but I just enjoyed the moment…
I’m fairly sure it was a female ruby-throated hummingbird…
how blessed that I was sitting in that spot and looked up at that exact moment…

today we walked by the spot along the creek where we scattered my beloved’s ashes…
it was nice to wander past…
just a moment later I spotted this monarch in a field of wild flowers…
felt like a sign from him;-)…

on Monday morning we went to the Park Café for breakfast with my BS buddies and then took a stroll around the English and Leo Mol Gardens…
my son-in-law and I walked over and met the rest of the group inside the restaurant… it was wonderful to finally get there, as it had been a long time… breakfast was tasty and my favourite server mentioned how she had missed seeing me😊…
it was the first time I’ve been back in the Gardens for at least a few years and they were full of colour and blooms…
what a lovely way to usher in the week…

started the morning gathering up all my bouquets, combining a few together, and tidying up another…
a bit sad as the glads were done…
then I took out the drill and put the second screw into the motion sensor on the deck… angling it as my son-in-law suggested… and it worked perfectly…
the rocks that were holding it up are now back in amongst the trees…
