yesterday, I called and made an appointment at Silver Heights IDA Pharmacy and walked over for my flu shot…

signed a paper, sat down and waited a few minutes, and it was done… didn’t even need a bandaid;-)…

continued on my walk and collected a few Poke balls in the process…

this morning I got a text from a friend advising that the Pharmacy had the Covid vaccine as of this morning…

I called right away and was there inside of fifteen minutes and got the shot… apparently, the needle hit a blood vessel so there was some bleeding…

this time I got a bandage, lol…

currently my arm is a teeny bit sore, and I am tired but I am so pleased to have both vaccines taken care of;-)…

saw the doctor, and as my A1C was low again, he advised that I’d only need to be checked every six months…

he was pleased with my blood pressure and so was I… then he mentioned that he would see me in three months for my next checkup…

apparently I will still have to go every three months, but only do the bloodwork twice a year…

well, that was disappointing…

but the good news is that I got my flu shot and an appointment for my COVID booster shot in January at the clinic;-)…

woohoo…

all in all I think I’ve been making some reasonable choices regarding what goes into my body as I recover from my knee issue;-)…

I am so grateful that we have SkipTheDishes as I haven’t been making many meals over the last week…

I’ve ordered a few times recently… when I do, I always make sure to order enough for a few meals…

last night I ordered from Pho Hoang, a favourite… I ended up with enough for four meals…

I did make a grilled cheese sandwich the other day with some marble rye bread a friend brought from La Belle Baguette…

have really appreciated not having to prepare meals, but planning to actually cook my dinner tomorrow;-)…

I’ve been reflecting on my time on Maui…

I have blepharitis and have to clean my eyes every morning with a soapy towelette… for the last couple of months one eye has been inflamed… it takes ages for these inflammations to resolve… I’ve been using a special ointment every day which also affects my vision a bit… I stopped about a week before we left so that I would be able to wear my contacts while we were there…

I realize that my eye is almost back to normal, even with wearing my contacts all day, every day while we were there…

the other thing I noticed was that I didn’t need to wear deodorant, even though it was very hot the whole time we were away…

was it the ocean, the temperate climate, the air….

don’t know but am feeling rejuvenated;-)…

for weeks I was having trouble sleeping…

I think I had a virus which caused an ache in my neck that really made laying down in bed painful… a number of colleagues had mentioned similar issues…

it went on and on… some nights I barely slept… other nights I would wake up ten or twelve times… even went out to the hot tub in the middle of the night and took the odd drug, which clearly shows how bad I was feeling, lol… none of which worked by the way…

for the last few days I’ve been able to sleep without being propped up in the bed…

and I hadn’t even realized it, lol… a reminder of how quickly we can forget when we weren’t feeling well… but great to realize how good being healthy makes you feel…

getting a good night’s sleep is so beneficial to everything else you do…

so happy to be over whatever it was…

just realized that my knee is feeling great… haven’t had a twinge for a few days… very happy that it is doing so well… interesting how all of a sudden something doesn’t hurt…usually at which point it occurs to me how miserable it has been…

today I was back at yoga… our yogi took a few pictures for me…

worked on some excellent poses to strengthen shoulders and upper back… might even practice some of them at home…

it is always wonderful when your body is doing well and there are no twinges…

had my doctor’s appointment today with my GP… great news was that my A1C was the same as the last test, 3 months ago… I had been a bit worried because I felt I slipped a little over Christmas…

feel confident that I can eat as I have been and not be worried all the time that I am messing up… this is very good news and should help me relax about my food intake…

my cholesterol is up a tiny bit, but not enough to consider drugs, thankfully.. and my blood pressure is good…

all in all a great appointment… 

packing up my diabetes strips and lancets to give to a colleague… if I need them again it will be down the road and I will get items that aren’t expired…

  
also spent some time cleaning the cabinet under the bathroom sink… dumped out a bunch of out-of-date items and made a bit of space… will have to drop the stuff off at the drug store in the next while… they are able to dispose of it properly…

boys slept in until eight this morning… then happily watched cartoons on tv until their mom arrived about 8:30…

we went out for breakfast… second day in a row for me, lol… today it was Perkins for eggs Benedict… the 55 plus portion for me, which is just the right amount…

more shopping and found these adorable battery powered salt and pepper mills… had to bring them home… they are so cute…

  
now I have to figure out where to put them because they are too tall to fit in the cabinet where the old ones were, lol… but I can get rid of the older ones…

for our supper tonight we had tacos… only the little boys and their daddy came, but everyone loved them and had at least three each…

  
I used a ground vegan product instead of meat… very tasty and easier than cooking hamburger… no one even noticed the difference… we also had some refried beans, which we adults enjoyed… the boys don’t like beans of any kind…

I love feeding them tacos because they always eat well and there aren’t any complaints… there is lots of lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, avocado and sour cream to go with the soft and hard tacos that they like…

tonight they had milk with their supper… I usually offer juice boxes because I don’t think of drinking milk as I really dislike it, but they think of it as a treat, ugh…

another of their favourites is Subway sandwiches… they would choose that over burgers nearly any day… 

wonderful that they enjoy healthy foods…

started my day with blood work for my doctor’s appointment next week…

it was very foggy on the drive to the clinic…

  
this picture came out very clear considering how foggy it was, lol…

apparently the longer you press on the spot where your blood was taken the less bruising there will be…

  
not too bad today…

been a bit worried about how my blood sugar is doing so will be glad to see the results of this test…

we tried to go to aquasize but it was cancelled… on the way home I was fantasizing about either pho soup or Clay Oven for my supper…

but instead I made chicken and spinach on a whole wheat pita and warmed up some of the zucchini soup…

  

how healthy am I…

of course I did have a small bowl of chips after the healthy dinner, lol…
