spent a good portion of the last few days in the garden watching the most recent water lily flower open… this is the third one so far this season;-)…
so relaxing to watch the slow opening and the fish swimming around and about…

spent some time in the front flower bed tidying the datura…
they are doing great… I’ve been trimming the spent blossoms so that the plant might make more flowers;-)…
also made sure that all the debris went into the pots and washed my hands afterwards as they are poisonous…
the other day I may have put my hand to my lips and had a strange sensation so am being more careful…

what a wonderful evening we had on Wednesday…
our BS group met for dinner in the garden to celebrate a birthday…
I spent a good portion of the day ensuring that there were enough chairs available and physically distanced… it was very warm and the sun was shining in most of the garden…
in the end, we ate on the deck as it was shaded, lol… had dinner and dessert delivered and it was tasty…
after dinner we moved to the garden and carried on our visit…
took a very distanced photo as we usually commemorate special times together and I used my phone as the remote to take the shot…
although we video call each Monday night it was lovely to be together again in person…

yesterday morning my youngest grandson was dropped off at ten by his two older brothers who were heading off to a two-day Pokémon event…
about fifteen minutes after they left he spotted the first of our monarchs as it emerged from the lily of the valley where they had gone to turn into their chrysalis stage… I had been watching this chrysalis for a number of days as it was the only one we could find…
perfect timing, and he spotted three more as they came out to dry their wings…
the first one had a wasp attached to its wing and it took me quite a while to get it off… not sure if that hurt it or whether the wasp had already injured it…
the others eventually flew off after their wings dried out, but this little male spent most of the day with us… finally it was gone, so we are hoping that it was able to fly…
what a wonderful experience to share together;-)…

spent the morning in the house as I was waiting for a delivery…
had a very entertaining time as there was a lot going on at the house across the street…
the crew that had installed a new fence just a few weeks ago were back and taking the fence down…
then, they put up a new fence, which looked the same to me, lol… and took most of the day…
kept me busy watching the process;-)…

woke up to quiet this morning… the power was off so nothing in the house or neighbourhood was running… was thinking I wasn’t going to get any tea, but just fifteen minutes later it came back on…
took my cup of tea outside and spent some time in the garden…
wandered around admiring all the flowers…
also happy to get a few shots of the various critters who stopped by…
I need to get back into the pond to deal with the algae but it was a little cool today, so I will do that in the next few days…

Father’s Day… remembering my beloved…
I’ve been thinking a lot about all those who are missing that special person… the one who fits as the father figure… whether a father, husband, brother, son…
it is over eight years since I lost my beloved… you’d think that enough time had passed that it wouldn’t be hard, but today is hard… time doesn’t matter…
this picture popped out in my photos the last week… I’ve been going back to it ever since, lol…
he had many of the same traits as my dad… honest, accepting, caring, hard working, supportive, kind, generous…
good traits for everyone;-)…

a very quiet day…
slow to rise and made french toast with the last of the whole wheat bread…
watched a few morning shows and then headed out to the garden…
planted the last of the flowers still in the garage and spent time reading…
have not seen a single bird today, but I did get a few nice photos…
happy with this great shot of the ferns which are growing so quickly…
the poppies are getting closer and closer to opening and I check them out every morning…
I also cut some lily of the valley for the bedroom… they have finally opened and the scent is lovely…

I’ve had my current Nikon camera over a year and a half… one of the reasons I upgraded, rather than repair my previous camera, had to do with technology…
newer cameras connect with computers and phones in a much simpler manner so I figured that it made sense to have those options…
sadly, just weeks after I obtained it, that technology stopped working… I went and spoke with the people at the camera store… they offered a few suggestions, which I tried a few times, but the wi-fi and bluetooth would just not work…
I gave up because it was very frustrating and I had tried everything they suggested…
I’ve been a bit disappointed in the quality of my photos and using the camera less… to get photos from the camera I would have to remove the memory card and plug it into either my computer or iPhone…
a few days ago, as I was taking some photos out the front window, I noticed a new icon at the bottom left of the screen… right away I pulled out my phone and connected to the app which was still on my phone…
I was beside myself, because now it was working… and also had a message advising they had fixed a problem with remote connectivity… so, not only can I copy pictures to my iPhone remotely, I can take pictures using my phone as the shutter release button… this is very handy when taking some photos as you don’t move the camera when depressing the button…
this is the first camera photo using the iPhone to take it…
yay, excited to see what else it will do for me…

happy that I figured out how to cast Facebook Live onto my tv…
I’m sure others have been doing this for ages, lol… I’ve done it a few times with my photos but not often enough to remember how to do it easily;-)…
I think it is funny what things I can do without a problem and others which I’m not comfortable with just yet…
I’ve enjoyed watching the programs that Assiniboine Park and Zoo have been presenting… they are on Facebook Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1 pm CDT… nice to see the animals close up and learn some interesting things about how the keepers work with them…
much nicer on the tv screen than on my phone;-)…
gonna keep practicing…
