had some fun wandering around and taking a few pictures of the various decorations…
nice to enjoy them close up…
who knew there were so many dragonflies;-)…
of course the purple was no surprise…
it always reminds me to look at things from different viewpoints;-)…

a week or so ago, I cleaned all of the various bits and pieces off the front of the fridge…
put the container with the 24 magnets on it ready for Advent… my daughter sent them to me years ago… they covered two muffin tins and each held a tiny treat as they were opened daily during Advent…
then I put them away carefully🤪… and I didn’t find them until last year, lol… I am happy to use them this year, especially as I still knew where they were…
I think I might start with the 24th and then count back until Christmas;-)…
guess I better turn the magnets around, lol…
this morning I put up the first one…

this morning my grandson came over to put on the snow tires…
to get the car into the garage he first had to shovel the driveway…
I had made a narrow path from the house to the garage door so that I could take down the table and move things so he could do the work inside the garage…
tires got changed although he ended up only putting Indi in halfway for the front and back wheels… I had to take a photo with both the pretty summer rims and sad winter tires on at the same time, lol…
there was a lot of snow and it was wet and heavy, but he got it done, including the sidewalk and paths… I was pleased that he came in a few times to rest and visit a bit…
just as he finished, it started to snow again…
and off he went with proper winter tires on, which made me happy…

spent time this morning with the dahlia tubers…
when I dug them up a while back, I put them in different containers so I would remember which was which…
I think I got them right, lol…
I’ve read a lot of blogs and watched many videos on how to overwinter the tubers… of course the information is all slightly different…
last year only one of the ones I saved was usable, so we will see what happens with this year’s batch…
each type is in a paper bag and the bags are all in a bin that will go into a cool dark place in the basement…
I’ve left a bit of soil around them and not separated any… and I should check on them a few times to be sure they aren’t getting mouldy… maybe I will be able to find the eyes better in the spring…

this week our group is moving indoors as it is cold outside, so I have been getting the living room organized… another chair has been added so that everyone has a separate place to sit…
a few days ago I spent some time covering a black and white chair so that it fits better in the living room…
it didn’t come out perfectly, but I am happy with the outcome… it is purple, after all…
side tables were moved, pledge applied, plants resituated, cushions replaced…
can’t wait for my friends to see it…

spent time outside in the garden digging up some of the dahlia tubers…
although it was sunny, it was cool and it got windier as I worked… my fingers were cold inside my work gloves and I had a cup of tea to warm them up when I got in, lol…
I only ended up bringing in the tubers from two of them… one is still out there but I will finish digging it out in a few days…
these are the tubers from my favourite Eveline… there are quite a few pieces and it took a lot of work to get them out of the planter…
once they dry out I will take off the rest of the soil around them… then I will put them into paper bags in a dark and cool part of the basement…
there were two of these in one pot and they bloomed a lot and made me very happy… I hope that there will be more next summer…
and this clump came out in one piece… it is the Robann Regal and also had multiple blooms… I am hopeful that they will be viable in the spring…
the flowers were a bit smaller than I expected but the plant produced many blooms…
looking forward to bringing in the Mick’s Peppermint, which also bloomed beautifully…

had a bit of a giggle the other day… I was folding towels and facecloths from the dryer…
I looked at this one and thought oh no my favourite towel lost its colour and is more mauve now… and that was okay, purple and all, but odd…
when I picked it up from the other items, I thought that it also shrank…
at that point I realized it was actually a hand towel that came from the lavender farm in Maui… and it did have mauve stripes…
here is a photo of my favourite towel… not sure why it is the favourite as I have other, purple ones, but this is definitely the most used…
and now I am going out to the hot tub with that very towel…

a few days ago I woke up to the bird feeder bent wayyyy over…
not sure what critter would have exerted enough strength to do that…
took quite a bit of energy to get it more or less back to the way it was…
the birds seem happy about it, lol…
