finally got around to putting away most of the summer tops…

that produced a lot of space and freed up many hangers…

sadly, only two tops made it into the giveaway box…

then, a bit later a good friend stopped by with something she had picked up for me… after a lovely visit she headed out…

as I waved to her out the window I was reminded of my Aunty Vi, who always stood at the window and waved whenever someone left her home…

decided to make a vegetable terrine for our dinner…

I thought I had the recipe in my cookbook, but not so much…

it had come from an old Company’s Coming cookbook… I am sure I photographed the recipe before giving the cookbooks away… unfortunately, I didn’t mark them as recipes and had no idea when I gave them away, lol…

I had looked online at various recipes, but none of them were even close…

I checked the computer, contacted my sister-in-law and even called the Company’s Coming company…

the person on the other end of the phone was very helpful… I was wanting to know which book the recipe was in so that I could order it online… once she knew what I was looking for she hung up and started searching… she called back within a few hours to let me know which book it was in, but that the book was no longer sold, and that the recipe wasn’t in any of the new books…

finally my sister-in-law sent me a text with a photo of a handwritten copy of the recipe…

yay, made it and enjoyed it with dinner… lots of memories…

received my new earbuds…

two or three weeks ago my pretty Samsung Earbuds just stopped working… all of a sudden they wouldn’t pair with my phone… of course they were not under warranty… the service department suggested I have them repaired locally but the local people advised they would have to send them away… it was going to cost $55 if they sent them away and I decided not to have them repaired… and it wasn’t clear how much the repair might cost…

I thought about it for quite a while and did a ton of research before deciding on these ones…

I want them mainly for phone calls which meant there weren’t that many options and ones that would be comfortable in my ears…

I finally ordered them on Wednesday, and they were delivered on Friday;-)…

they were easy to pair with my iPhone and music sounds good…

will have to see how they are on phone calls…

wish me luck;-)…

today, my grandson turns twenty-one…

apparently I am getting lax in my old age as I haven’t been taking as many photos as usual…

these are three of the most recent ones with him in them, lol… but they cover the important things…

in this first one he is cleaning out the hot tub for me… he often comes over and looks after various household and garden jobs…

currently he has my car and here he driving me home after my first Covid-19 vaccination where he kept me company through the entire process… and suggested we get an ice cream treat…

this last one is him heading out in the car after delivering items off for me… he runs errands for me and drops off bits and pieces whenever needed…

what a wonderful time these twenty-one years have been…

he is a wonderful support…

I’ve been checking around for purple butterfly bush with no success… last year I was able to get some from a local nursery, but they haven’t been able to acquire any this season…

eventually I found some online at Home Depot, so I ordered them… wasn’t sure what I would get, but was hopeful…

Friday, two boxes were delivered and the plants looked good…

I decided to keep them in the house until later in the day, when I put them in a shady spot to get used to being outside…

very happy with the purchase… hoping they enjoy their new homes in the garden…

I’ve been looking to install a raised bed garden at the side of the house, in the previously known as shade garden… it has changed since the neighbour’s elm tree came down…

this is clearly not the time to build anything with wood which has tripled in price in the last year…

I found these cute planters with trellises attached and ordered three…

they are very cute and I plan to grow some cucumbers and tomatoes in them… maybe some peas and beans… we will see…

I’ve brought four of the pots inside and will transplant the cucumbers in the next few days… they can continue growing and then just get plopped into the planter (if and) when the weather warms up, lol…

I’ve been spending a bit of time with my Olympus camera, getting to know it again…

it had been sitting on the shelf for a long time because I had misplaced the charger…

my son-in-law was able to find one online for me and I recently received it…

I dug out the manual, read through it and have started to take more pictures… I never thought it worked as well as my Nikon, but maybe I didn’t give it a chance, lol…

we shall see…

my grandson arrived yesterday morning after picking up a number of things for me…

he brought me a bunch of solar globes, a new squirrel-proof feeder, a kneeler for the garden, stamps, seeds, a new plate and a few groceries…

I am thrilled about the solar globes as I’ve been searching for them since last summer;-)…

he also moved a big planter and my hammock chair so that I can clean up the back deck…

the obelisk I ordered will go into the large planter on the deck… as soon as I put it together, lol…

been busy in the kitchen…

I finally used the new steamer basket that I ordered from IKEA… it worked beautifully in the Instant Pot to hard boil some eggs…

it is an easy way to cook them and they always turn out great…

also made crackers from the Oh She Glows app on my phone… they are very tasty and do not have any flour in them…

this is the second time I’ve made them and they came out crisper as I thinned them out more than the first time…

my grandsons came by… one to shovel and the other to bring me a few items…

it was nice to see them both… the younger one stepped inside the back door where he warmed up his cold hands and drank some of the hot chocolate I made for him…

the older one stepped inside the front door and brought in the items he had picked up… we had a short chat, he in the doorway with a mask on, and me on the far side of the living room with a mask on… nice to have a short chat with him as well…

once the shovelling was finished, they headed off with a few treats I’d gathered up for them;-)…

it was nice to see Indi, even if she was dirty, lol…
