months ago I put the copper pipe chimes together, that my beloved had made, using masking tape…
finally, I brought up the drill and found an appropriate bit…
took off the ugly green tape, put the top plexiglass piece into the clamp, and drilled six holes…
then I attached the six pipes to the top and hung it back up…
way to go me;-)…

a few days ago my grandson dug the hole deeper where the mandevilla has been residing for most of the summer… it lives in the house during the winter months and has just started to bloom…
it has also been blowing over fairly regularly and I’ve had to bungee cord it to the upright umbrella on really windy days so it wouldn’t fall over again… I had dug the hole to what I thought would work, but it wasn’t deep enough, lol…
Thursday, the wind was very strong and the mandevilla stayed put with no leaning or falling at all;-)

on Sunday we went for a walk around Assiniboine Park to catch Pokémon… apparently it was a special event around the world… it was hot and sunny…
there were people everywhere… many of them with their heads down, focussed on their phones, with cords connecting to power packs in their pockets, lol…
we walked around the allée that circles the Diversity Gardens… it was fully shaded and there were many people along the way…
from there we walked across the Park to the English and Leo Mol Gardens… it was a long way, lol… we stopped now and then for a rest and sip of our water, and got to walk down one of my favourite paths…
it has been months since I’ve been to the Gardens, so it was a treat… besides all the people, there were lots of flowers in bloom with beautiful water lilies, and frogs, in the English Garden…
the cricket fields had some good items as we headed back to the car…
nice to enjoy a walk, although my feet were a little tired;-)…

I have had this six piece sectional couch for close to thirty years (according to my daughter)…
it had resided in the living room, and for the last number of years, in the basement family room…
a few years ago I brought up three pieces for the living room again, as the hide-a-bed was moved into the den…
in the recent decluttering process downstairs, the three remaining pieces needed to find a new home… two came up to the living room and one was already in the back storage room… the living room was overflowing, lol…
I thought about putting two in the office, but that was really going to fill up that small room…
so I decided to give them away… my daughter was very proud;-)…
a few days ago they were stuffed into the truck and delivered to someone who could use them…
between that, and the chair being fixed, the living room has returned to normal and I am one happy camper;-)…

Monday I cleaned up after supper…
the deal is whoever makes supper doesn’t have to clean up…
so, I was happy to be doing the dishes;-)…
had a delicious meal of shrimp, red pepper, and Shanghai noodles with a delightful sauce…
the food was prepared while I relaxed and watched some tv…
what a treat;-)…

we’ve been working away at completing projects that have been started, but not quite finished;-)… I’m sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else, lol…
Wednesday, it was the back gate in the new fence…
the dirt was dug up under the gate area, two old concrete pads were discovered under a few inches of the dirt… they were removed and then some quarter down was laid, packed down, levelled, and new blocks put down, level with the lane… soil went into the spots on either side and some work on the slope up to the shed took place…
this is going to make the taking out and bringing in of garbage and recycling bins so much easier…
meanwhile the sky filled with threatening clouds, spots of sun, and then more of the “going to rain” cloud variety…
the project is not quite done, and just as we came in for lunch the wind went crazy and some rain started down…
good timing;-)…

as we declutter the basement, we have found a few things to move into other areas of the house… and our goal is to set the items up as they get moved, lol…
most recently, a light fixture that originally came from my parents’ apartment made its way into the den…
it got screwed into the wall, a smart bulb was added to it and connected to Google Home…
working nicely and it will be great for guests when the couch transforms to a bed;-)…

one of the projects that has been in the works was to replace the cutting board in the kitchen…
many weeks ago, the board was cut to the right size… it was a little thick and needed to be sanded a bit…
time went by… then it was sanded, but needed to be oiled… the oil was purchased…
it finally got two layers of oil and made its way into the slot under the counter…
looks amazing;-)… maybe too pretty to cut on, lol…

Tuesday, our neighbour, who had moved away, came by to remove a couple of very large planters that were filled with great soil… they had been using them for their veggie gardens and decided to take the beds apart and shovel the soil into their trailer to reuse at the new house as they are renting this one out…
happily I was allowed three wheelbarrows full of the great soil…
then it had to be raked across the grass to help level it out…
looks bad now, but I am excited to see how it will look in a few weeks…

Sunday was International left-handers day…
made me laugh as I thought about the cute magnet that my son-in-law got for me a number of years ago…
