early Monday morning I unplugged the hot tub again and put the pump in to empty it…
with the new hose it only takes about fifteen minutes… so much better than the old two hour procedure…
Mike from Krevco arrived later and moved the tub away from the wall… then he spent a good half hour trying to remove the bolt in the broken arm…
eventually both arms were attached and the lid was back on… yay…
once my grandson got home in the evening we were able to get the hot tub back into the correct spot… sounds easy, but if it isn’t in just the correct place, the lids won’t open… but we got it into place and then it took an hour and a half to fill…
a slow process, but done… then it was restarted and will take quite a while to come up to temperature as it is plugged into an outlet, not hardwired, lol…
tonight I have been adding the start-up chemicals, with twenty minutes between each addition, and am looking forward to a lovely late evening time in it;-)…
Sunday (well, Mother’s Day) will mark the fourteenth year since I had the first dip in it;-)…
on Monday I received a birthday present in the mail…
it is a plastic envelope with a disk of soil, a popsicle stick and seeds…
it will turn into sunflower micro greens…
this morning, after going online for directions, I added water, stirred up the soil, added the seeds, stirred it a bit more, misted it and put it into the sunshine;-)…
will be checking it out daily to see how it grows…
we sorted through all of the stuff that got put into the garage when we were cleaning out the basement, and piled the items onto the driveway which were for the dump…
a truck arrived, was filled with the collection, and headed out… when it got back the snowblower was lifted in, with help from a neighbour, and away it went to someone with a large driveway…
then we started to reorganize the items that were left and make space in the garage for the car and the motorcycle…
took quite a while and lots of organizing, but eventually space was made…
and the car and motorcycle fit;-)… maybe the next project will be to wash the car, lol…
a start was made on the items still on the workbench, including the million screws, lol…
four years ago in April, we arrived on Maui to celebrate my birthday…
I had always wanted to go to Hawaii, but never made it happen until then…
I have been enjoying the memories that have come up in my social media…
on our way into our first hotel, we spotted orchids in the lobby…
we went to the beach to watch the sun set, got our toes in the ocean, found a great spot to watch, settled in to wait, and then had this group of people walk right in front of us to get their pictures, lol…
I have the amethyst heart that I purchased on my bedside table and enjoy seeing it all the time…
one of my favourite memories is of our time at the orchid farm… a huge space bursting with the most beautiful plants, most of which were in full bloom…
it was delightful…
there were fish and sea turtles…
saw cacao trees with cacao pods on them, jacaranda trees in bloom (purple), and the most amazing banyan tree which took up an entire block…
it was an amazing time and we enjoyed every minute… it lived up to all of my expectations and then some… so lucky this happened before covid…
started with an early morning hot tub as the sun shone… then had pie for breakfast…
there were phone calls, text messages, visits, it was great and a DQ blizzard miraculously appeared;-)…
I spent time reading, napping, and watching a few programs…
we had steak and lobster for supper and I didn’t even have to clean up;-)…
my kids gave me another subscription for eight bouquets this summer… I loved the ones last summer… and this afternoon flowers arrived to brighten the dull day…
seems like I have been working in the computer room forever, lol…
every time I think I’ve done all the papers, I find another box or bag, sigh…
this time I came across two very old photos…
one of my mom… she was a beauty;-)…
and one of my Auntie Vi, one of my dad’s sisters… she and my uncle lived in a tiny house in River Heights which was packed full of knickknacks… every surface was covered, lol… she made all kinds of things… she painted ceramics, knit numerous things, and always had delicious treats to eat whenever you arrived at the house…
she is also the reason that I stand at the window and wave to everyone as they leave my house just as she always did…
had a delightful day yesterday… got to cook for my grandsons…
made stuffing (one of their absolute favourites), prepped mashed potatoes, boiled a turnip (to use the water in the gravy), cut up cucumbers, cooked mushrooms, and opened a can of cranberry jelly…
such a treat to have them for a home-cooked meal, lol… and fun to make dinner for more than one or two people…
put the chicken into the oven and the final piece was to make the gravy and pull out the cranberry jelly (only two of us like that)…
as always, while I work away making the pieces of the meal, I am thinking about the people who will be eating the meal with me…
dinner turned out delicious, although it was a bit on the beige side, lol… sadly, only one of them was able to come as the other was home sick with a stomach bug;-(… I did send home a goodie bag for when he feels better…
haven’t seen them for ages, so it was a wonderful treat;-)…
we caught up and they shovelled part of the driveway for me…
the shovelling was a big job as the driveway hasn’t been cleared for months, but it was a beautiful day… and, in the process, the youngest lost his AirPods… in a white container;-(… we spent quite some time digging through all the snow they had moved but did not find them…
we had Chinese food for supper…I’ve been craving it for a while so that made it especially good…
after supper I dug out a set of earbuds from my collection of ones that don’t fit my ears and gave him those… everyone played on their phones for a while as we chatted before they headed home;-)…
they have become lovely young men, although they still bicker like brothers, lol…
