had a quiet day… spent it remembering all the wonderful Christmas and birthday memories with my beloved… he would have turned 73 today;-)…

just last night I hung up his stocking at the top of the stairs once the small trees were on the steps…

I did giggle a bit, because he had trouble with his balance and he always felt the stuff on the stairs took up all the space on the steps…

I made burgers and fries for dinner which was one of his favourite meals…

it was delicious…

lots of wonderful memories;-)…

last year I had a great advent calendar and when it was finished I saved the wooden box it came in…

Canadian Chocoholic made inserts for it and mine came last week… it took me a good portion of an afternoon to construct the paper drawers… lots of folding and bending, lol…

my grandson took the calendar to Decadence Chocolates and Helen filled it with her bonbons…

got it back yesterday and had my first bonbon… yum…

what a lovely treat;-),,,

had a great morning in the kitchen…

made venison stew from meat that my neighbour gave me…

used the final few tomatoes to make a pasta sauce…

also used the last of the potatoes in the bin to make mashed potatoes… there are enough for my supper with the stew and 2 additional meals…

next up will be cooking some spareribs for a few meals…

spaghetti…

my grandson brought over some items he had picked up for me and stayed for dinner…

we had fresh spaghetti (which we picked up last week) and meatballs with a tomato sauce I made last week…

our meal was finished off with garlic bread and a salad…

a lovely visit and Christmas wishes discussed;-)…

hard to believe that there are only 34 days until the big day…

yesterday, for the first time in nearly two years, we went to PTE to watch a live play…

we were both masked and had to show our proof of immunization… there were less than half the seats filled as they followed all Covid protocols… the program was digital and the set was see-through;-)…

it was great to be able to watch a show live…

once we left, we went on another adventure to find a pasta shop my friend had recently read about… it was snowing again and the trees were beautiful…

we were the only people inside and it was such fun to look at things and make choices about what to purchase… I got some fresh spaghetti, sorrentino (ravioli) in mushroom sauce, falafel, empanadas and pita…

what a fun time;-)…

recently I’ve seen a number of videos about dogs and cats banging or tapping their food bowls to announce they want food…

for years we have tapped the side of the fish tank to let the goldfish know we are putting food into the water…

we follow the same system when they are in the pond, although this year they fed off the algae and bugs in the pond…

they often need to be reminded of the process once they come in for the winter… and of course any babies have to learn the process…

once they remember, they often come up to the top of the tank as I walk toward them, lol…

we are not there just yet…

I didn’t leave the house today and spent most of the day reading… I was enjoying a favourite author’s story and had trouble putting the book down, lol…

when I wasn’t reading I was making soup and meat sauce…

the soup is delicious… I used half of a roasted butternut squash, onion, celery and coconut milk… there is enough for two meals which is great… as we adjust to this colder weather I think soup will be a welcome treat…

the meat sauce used tomatoes from my neighbours, onion, oregano and ground beef… it made a lot and I will probably freeze a bit and use the rest with spaghetti…
