made my first potato salad of the season this morning and then spent the rest of the day in the garden…

apparently snow is coming so it just makes sense to be out there while it is nice…

napped in my rocking lounger and sat in one of my repaired chairs…

watched and listened to many birds… saw what might have been a purple finch, which stood on a chair to oversee the garden, but I didn’t take any pictures;-)… the sparrows and juncos were enjoying drinks of water when they weren’t searching for food… the red squirrel hopped all over the deck for some reason… it was fun to watch…

when I wasn’t watching the wildlife, I was reading a new book and eating potato salad;-)..

big day today…

put in my contacts, found my purple sandals and put on real clothes, even a bra;-)… can’t remember the last time I got dressed to go out… searched for my thickest mask and then waited…

ready even before the three hours email reminder came, lol…

my grandson picked me up and we headed downtown to the RBC Convention Centre… this is also the first time since August that I’ve been in a vehicle with another person, yikes…

not thrilled about being around hundreds of people, as I’ve stayed alone in my house for months to protect myself…

we walked in at 5:24 pm and left there at 6:22… had to stay after the shot for thirty minutes as I have some drug allergies…

the process and space were well organized and all of the staff were kind and friendly… those of us in the special chairs were watched over the entire thirty minutes to be sure we were fine;-)…

we stopped and picked up fish, shrimp and chips on our way home… sadly, my fish wasn’t in the bag but there were two orders of shrimp, which again, unfortunately, were over cooked…

thankful to get this first dose and so happy to have the support of my grandson;-)…

seems like a strange Easter… even more so than last year, for some reason…

I hadn’t put out any decorations, but this morning I dug out the Easter box and put out the sign, bunnies and bag that I got last year;-)…

I made everything for tonight’s supper yesterday, as well as packaging some ham and potatoes for a friend and my grandson… really happy to cook for others… this morning I finished up the ham and pea soup…

I set the obelisk into the pot on the deck, put cushions out, and spent the afternoon in the garden, reading and watching the birds…

had a lovely visit with my grandson when he came to pick up his dinner… a friend dropped off some delicious pickerel for my supper, when she picked up her ham and potatoes…

still didn’t feel like Easter, but all in all, a lovely day…

today I made a new and fancier version of scalloped potatoes… was a bit of fun…

made up packages for a friend and my grandson…. felt good to prepare food for others, lol…

also moved the rain barrel, swept off the back deck, put out the solar lights, and set up a few chairs…

my Easter dinner for tomorrow is basically ready… ham is cooked and I will just need to make some asparagus or Brussels sprouts… not sure which it will be…

currently, soup is simmering on the stove…

since the reminder in January that my eating habits had loosened up a bit too much, I’ve been eating less and much better…

I’ve also been reaching my step goal every day, even though it is not a huge goal…

I am walking a figure eight in the living and dining room, and sometimes on the deck… if I walk on the treadmill my hip gets really grumpy so I am not doing that just now…

looking forward to a better A1C result in April…

my grandson arrived yesterday morning after picking up a number of things for me…

he brought me a bunch of solar globes, a new squirrel-proof feeder, a kneeler for the garden, stamps, seeds, a new plate and a few groceries…

I am thrilled about the solar globes as I’ve been searching for them since last summer;-)…

he also moved a big planter and my hammock chair so that I can clean up the back deck…

the obelisk I ordered will go into the large planter on the deck… as soon as I put it together, lol…

been busy in the kitchen…

I finally used the new steamer basket that I ordered from IKEA… it worked beautifully in the Instant Pot to hard boil some eggs…

it is an easy way to cook them and they always turn out great…

also made crackers from the Oh She Glows app on my phone… they are very tasty and do not have any flour in them…

this is the second time I’ve made them and they came out crisper as I thinned them out more than the first time…

planted the first of the seeds… spent time one day getting the containers set up… most of them have lids so they will be like little greenhouses…

used a couple of egg cartons for the grape tomatoes…

last year I popped some tiny wrinkled tomatoes into a bit of soil and they did very well, so I have decided to try again this year;-)…

I have learned to be ruthless and will remove some from each container once they start growing…

yesterday I got my appointment for my COVID vaccination… woohoo… was thrilled as the age limit has been going down very slowly… arranged for my grandson to drive me there and back when the day arrives…

so, for a treat, I ordered from my favourite Vietnamese restaurant – Pho Hoang… we used to go there after our aquasize class… in the before time…

the food always arrives quickly and is delicious…

I usually try to order enough for a couple of meals, so got my favourite shrimp summer rolls with the steak and brisket pho… ate the rolls with some of the pho broth…

I also ordered some rolled ice cream, although I only ate a third of it with my dinner… it was delicious;-)…

had a big bowl of pho today… and maybe finished the ice cream;-)…

had a lovely afternoon on the deck yesterday…

removed one of the feeding saucers and cleaned the table… that took a long time but it looked shiny when I was done… looks ready for a meal with the boys;-)…

then I sat in the sunshine and read… so lovely…

at the end of the afternoon I brought in the planters which I am going to use to start some seedlings…

looking forward to getting the planting started…
