just possibly Spring might be here…
watched six robins across the street in the field… only managed to catch three together…

they were moving quickly and spent most of the day searching for yummy things to eat…

certainly a sign of warmer weather…

recently I came across a couple of pictures of cherry trees from April a number of years ago…
this first photo, which I took at the Filberg Festival in Courtenay, BC in 2011, won us a trip to Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa to enjoy their Pacific Mist hydropath…

this photo was taken in New York, NY, in 2016… I think it was in Central Park..

cherry trees are just so beautiful, and clearly April is a blooming month for them;-)…
it is fun when memories remind me of special times…

it feels as though the weather has been all anyone is thinking about these days…
it has been raining for days and then it turned into snow… there are puddles (or lakes) everywhere and many people have been struggling with water in their basements…

with another gloomy day, I decided to make soup… I used up not-so-fresh zucchini, carrots, onions, celery, and the last of the frozen cauliflower in the freezer… then I added various bits and pieces to season it up…
the result came out nicely and I will have some tasty lunches over the next few days…

felt like a good use of my time on this dull day…

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately…
today I spent most of the time in the living room, with the light on, as it has been raining off and on the whole time…
besides enjoying my book I’ve also watched birds and bunnies and listened to thunder roll across the sky…

there were chickadees and house finches and juncos… a squirrel has been trying to get to the feeder on the window and I kept rapping on the window to discourage it, lol…

across the street, three bunnies have spent a good portion of the day snacking on goodies in the grass… the rain has certainly melted most of the snow, so I guess new treats have come to light…

as I write this, there is even more thunder and now a bit of lightning…
not sure if I will finish the book today…

this morning I received an email from the David Suzuki Foundation about Healing Forests…
forests are one of my favourite places and I had already been thinking of Cathedral Grove and the banyan tree in Lahaina on Maui…

as a matter of fact I chose a tree mug for my tea…

for years I have walked through a portion of the forest at Assiniboine Park on my way to the English Gardens…
after making a donation to the Healing Forests, I came across an IG Live as they were broadcasting a ceremony from The Bay where it was transferred to the Southern Chiefs Organization…

the project looks amazing and is supported by all levels of government…
I have always found forests, whatever their size, to be restorative and healing, so these two things that came to me on Earth Day made me very happy…
happy earth day 🌏🌍🌎…

today, I went to a restaurant… first time in over two years…
I wasn’t sure how I would feel… whether I’d be nervous or stressed out, lol… happily I didn’t feel either of those things…
we arrived and there were few people in the space, so that was good…

we were seated near the windows and watched many geese fly up and over the building…
our server, one of my favourites, was masked and pleasant… after breakfast I ordered a beet salad and some falafels to have for my lunch…

it was nice to do something semi-normal…
a bit later in the day a friend dropped by with a beautiful handmade birthday card and we had a brief chat on the steps…

a bit of shovelling, a nap, and reading took up the rest of the day…

as I was getting ready for bed last night I heard hooting…
I went into the computer room and checked out the trees and spotted two very large owls getting cozy in the tree…
one flew away and the other stayed on the branch… didn’t hear any more hoots…
how blessed was I to be at the right place and time to see this;-)…

checked the tree out today but so far there doesn’t appear to be any nesting happening…

what a treat this morning;-)…
I’d been planning to go out and shovel the steps and sidewalk to the street and had even put on the extra pants this morning…
I had also moved my winter jacket from the bottom of the door and was surprised to find snow along the threshold… put my jacket next to the vent to warm it up a bit…

just before I was getting ready to head out, I heard my neighbour’s snowblower…
not only did he do the main portion of the sidewalk and the paths from his driveway to mine, he also shovelled the front steps;-)…
I finished dressing and went out and shovelled the last six or eight feet to the road so that people can make it to the door, lol…
we had a nice little visit outside before heading into our houses…
later, I went out back and shovelled a path to the hot tub… not sure if it will open as there is a lot of ice along the edges…

but, I have the option if the ice melts…

it looks like the goose couple may be moving in across the way… I’ve seen them two or three times recently…
this morning I spent time enjoying their activities…

one eats while the other acts as a guard to be sure no enemies come along and disturb them…

I think they are spending time in the creek, but I haven’t spotted them there yet…
maybe I will see a nest before long…
that is of course if they stay through the blizzard🤪…
