what a wonderful evening we had on Wednesday…

our BS group met for dinner in the garden to celebrate a birthday…

I spent a good portion of the day ensuring that there were enough chairs available and physically distanced… it was very warm and the sun was shining in most of the garden…

in the end, we ate on the deck as it was shaded, lol… had dinner and dessert delivered and it was tasty…

after dinner we moved to the garden and carried on our visit…

took a very distanced photo as we usually commemorate special times together and I used my phone as the remote to take the shot…

although we video call each Monday night it was lovely to be together again in person…

I really enjoy technology and am always on the lookout for new ways to do things…

for a few years I’ve been adding smart technology to the house piece by piece and that has been a fun and learning experience…

I often check out new apps for my phone and currently have done research into using video conferencing and computer programs…

a few days ago, I discovered, completely by accident, that if I swipe left on my lock screen it takes me to my camera… very funny…

on my lock screen there is a small camera icon, which I have clicked on from the beginning…

reminded me of the line “you don’t know what you don’t know”… when I worked I would spend time with each person on staff as they worked at their computer… I would often learn some tip or trick that they used and assumed everyone else already knew, but didn’t…

wonder what I will discover next;-)…

I’ve had my current Nikon camera over a year and a half… one of the reasons I upgraded, rather than repair my previous camera, had to do with technology…

newer cameras connect with computers and phones in a much simpler manner so I figured that it made sense to have those options…

sadly, just weeks after I obtained it, that technology stopped working… I went and spoke with the people at the camera store… they offered a few suggestions, which I tried a few times, but the wi-fi and bluetooth would just not work…

I gave up because it was very frustrating and I had tried everything they suggested…

I’ve been a bit disappointed in the quality of my photos and using the camera less… to get photos from the camera I would have to remove the memory card and plug it into either my computer or iPhone…

a few days ago, as I was taking some photos out the front window, I noticed a new icon at the bottom left of the screen… right away I pulled out my phone and connected to the app which was still on my phone…

I was beside myself, because now it was working… and also had a message advising they had fixed a problem with remote connectivity… so, not only can I copy pictures to my iPhone remotely, I can take pictures using my phone as the shutter release button… this is very handy when taking some photos as you don’t move the camera when depressing the button…

this is the first camera photo using the iPhone to take it…

yay, excited to see what else it will do for me…

yesterday I received an envelope with a beautiful card and goodies in it…

another of my Advent All Year packages from my daughter…

a nice treat in this time of staying at home…

the card had a butterfly and flower on it and there were cute leaf stickers and two very cute camera paper clips inside…

thinking of where I am going to use those paper clips…

such a pleasant surprise…

I’ve had this cute little bag since a visit to Alaska in 2013…

I usually use it to protect my camera in my purse… sometimes I’ve worn it cross body when I’ve needed to carry my phone, without using my hands, or if I don’t have pockets…

a few days ago I figured out how to wear it around my waist…

added another fastener to it which makes it much easier to clip on and off…

in these last few years, being on my own, I have felt it more important to have my phone close at hand in case I trip, fall, or need help for some other reason…

going to be much easier now…

had a wonderful final day of work…

I’d spent time planning what I would like to do, and was able to accomplish everything on my list;-)…

spent time individually with each person on staff, thanking them for our time together, and listening to some of their stories…

lots of fun taking selfies with each person after our visit… missed the one person who wasn’t in the office…

had lunch with a very special woman and ended the day taking a final group photo and receiving gifts…

to top off the day, picked up Chinese food and had dinner with a few good friends…

last Friday I was presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers by our Board…

I have been taking pictures of them ever since… so happy to have my camera back to do so…

today I trimmed the stems and put the flowers into a different vase…

flowers make me happy and taking pictures of them is very relaxing…

my camera fell off a table at work at the beginning of November…

the viewfinder popped off… this camera doesn’t have the old-fashioned type of viewfinder, only the electronic version…

I tried to stick it back on, but the screen remained black… can’t really take photos when you can’t see what is in the viewer… was so upset that I didn’t even get a shot of the before, lol…

called the photo store only to discover I purchased the camera last September… so, no warranty, sigh…

then I called the camera hospital and sent it over by courier so that it could get repaired before the holiday season…

it has been a long time, but this morning it returned to the office… put my memory card back in and took a few photos right away…

so happy to have it back… I enjoy my iPhone camera but have really missed this one…

got some shots of flowers and birds in the garden…

sadly it seems that the flowers are getting a bit more sparse… temperatures are falling and the light is receding bit by bit…

also got a few photos of the chickadees as they were flitting back and forth to the feeder… they move so fast that I am always thrilled when I get a shot…

took these with my actual camera…

wondering when I need to bring in the Japanese Maple and the hibiscus… if I wait too long they get rather grumpy and lose all their leaves, lol…

this morning I spent some time in the garden before heading to work…

we’ve had a fair bit of rain over the last while and it is looking rather lush…

of course the grass needs to be cut, lol…

as I was sitting enjoying the view, the purple finch came by for a snack… such a beautiful bird… also has a lovely song…

I got a few good photos, then left my camera at work…

one of my amazing colleagues picked it up and brought it to me… this is particularly great as I don’t work tomorrow and was going to have to go in and get it;-)…

I am looking forward to spending some quality time in the garden tomorrow;-)…
