had a great day…
started out with two beautiful blooms on the hibiscus…
got a lovely present… tasty chocolate and a cookbook… looks like there are a couple of recipes that I am going to need to try soon… they can all be made in 15 minutes…
took part in a video with my colleague… we laughed quite a bit…
and that was all before noon…
now for a four day weekend;-)…

this morning an MTS tech came out and installed a booster for the internet signal…
he felt that it solved the problem perfectly, but I am not so sure… still taking a long time for some things to load, sigh…
the best news was that my son-in-law showed me how to chromecast my photos onto my tv… my other son-in-law taught me the first time, lol…
I love learning (and relearning) new technology… wrote the instructions down this time so hopefully I won’t forget them…
spent time checking out other technology while enjoying some chocolate and almonds;-)…

another busy day…
have really been enjoying the drive through the Park each morning as we go to and from the zoo for camp… wonderful relaxing way to start the day…
our supper plan was a frozen pizza, followed by a delicious dessert pizza… our various descriptions included: smells like s’mores; looks like a giant chocolate chip cookie; tastes like hot chocolate… yum… we did discuss that the whole pizza was 880 calories which was why I had a single slice… might just be getting a few of these to have on hand in the freezer;-)…
the older one ran out to the gas bar to pick up some milk for tomorrow’s breakfast and came across this bunny when he returned… clever boy circled around and came in to get me to go out and see it;-)…

received these sweet bowls from my daughter when my youngest grandson and I visited Ottawa in March…
she had been using them while waiting for us to arrive, lol, and really liked them… there was some talk about not giving them to me…
when I first brought them home I didn’t use them, but decided one day that the largest one would be great for my evening chip nibble… it is about the same size as one of the cereal bowls I’d been using for ages… and much prettier;-)…
then I discovered that pretzels fit beautifully in the one the next size down… and finally, things like olives or almonds and chocolate wafers fit perfectly in the smallest one…
having appropriate sized snack containers is very helpful for portion control…
now I use them all the time, lol…
a lovely gift…

set the alarm for 4 this morning to watch the Royal Wedding…
got some shortbread cookies from the freezer, almonds and Morden’s dark chocolate wafers… made tea and had it in a mug that had a bunch of birds perched on a branch, looking at something… lovely little treat as I watched…
had a nap later in the day and then spent some time reading in the sunshine…
baked some chicken, mashed cauliflower and coleslaw… it was very tasty…
reminded me of my mother-in-law who made delicious coleslaw, and a lovely elder who taught me to make coleslaw for large groups… I still use the recipe that has to be divided by four to make a reasonable amount for a family, lol…

tonight I enjoyed some hummingbird drinking chocolate… it was a Christmas gift from my daughter…
I used Almond Milk… made with 70% cacao, it was delicious…
before making it, I reviewed what I had eaten during the day and realized there was room for a bit of sugar;-)…
last week I saw the doctor and heard that my A1C has been creeping up for the last six months… it is at 6.3 but needs to stop rising…
I had loosened my very strict watch over my eating habits to make life a bit more relaxed… I don’t think that was bad, but will tighten up my food intake a bit to see if that can make an improvement to the next test…
so, I am trying to have bread only once a week and dark chocolate a few times a week… on the whole, the rest of my food choices are pretty good… we will see how this goes…
life sure is a journey, lol…

yesterday, while my grandson was here we set the table for Easter dinner…
together we decided on the tablecloth, dishes, platters, bowls, and how we would put the gifts on the plates… I used to buy books for all the special times, but now they are bigger I give them gift cards so they can make their own choice of something to read… also had a chocolate bunny for each of them…
while we were out shopping we picked up an angel food cake, strawberries and whipping cream for dessert… he cut the strawberries up before he left…
when the family arrived this afternoon the boys searched for treats from the Easter bunny… they found tons of mini eggs…
I had Easter treats too… got myself a beautiful heart-shaped amethyst from Poco Inspired, the kids brought me a bag of Ferrero Rocher mini eggs, and apparently there is a bag on my daughter’s mantle in Ottawa waiting for me;-)…

yesterday my day was filled with lots of treats…
in the morning I received a lovely invitation to lunch and time at a spa…
at noon a colleague treated me to lunch… it was tasty…
and in the evening one of my BS buddies brought us chocolate from Florida and fresh baked cookies…
I certainly am blessed in so many ways…

two thousand one hundred and ninety-one days since my beloved left me…
you would think that six years would make it easier…
some days it does seem a little easier… many days it doesn’t…
I do things that I’d never done before and I do them well… those big girl pants and all… but I would much rather have him beside me…
I continue to try to remember the good times and focus on them rather than feel sorry for myself… although there are certainly times when I wallow…
I’ve learned to feel those moments and sit in them and not push them aside… I believe that has helped me move forward…
as I write this the tears fall… over the last few weeks I’ve have been reminded of the days when George died and the memorial that followed… it has been very stress-filled as I have been reliving the hours and days immediately following his death…
thinking back to the police arriving at the door and my friends going with me to the hospital… not being told he had died, but walking into the room where his body was… calling my girls, and others… signing a form so that they could harvest his organs… going home to a house without him…
hard days… but today I got chocolate in the mail and bought myself a bouquet of flowers to make me smile;-)…
one step at a time on the journey…

the weekend sure makes watching the Olympics easier…
wake up around 4 am, watch whatever is on and go back to sleep for another few hours… rise and have a relaxing breakfast and watch what I might have missed earlier… nap if needed, and repeat…
I ate especially well today, as I knew there was roast chicken dinner on the menu…
breakfast smoothie and hard boiled eggs with shredded cucumbers for lunch…
ran out for a quick grocery shop and then back to the Olympics…
prepped the stuffing for the chicken and was sure to have enough to make stuffing muffins for my youngest grandson… they are his favourite, lol…
sadly, he wasn’t feeling well so didn’t have any dinner but he did take some home for later…
ended my day with a couple of shortbread cookies that a friend made for me and a small piece of dark chocolate… the cookies reside in the freezer and this was the first time I’ve had any… mmm, delicious reminder of Christmas…
now to watch the ice dance short program…
