had a lovely day yesterday…
started with an early morning hot tub as the sun shone… then had pie for breakfast…
there were phone calls, text messages, visits, it was great and a DQ blizzard miraculously appeared;-)…
I spent time reading, napping, and watching a few programs…
we had steak and lobster for supper and I didn’t even have to clean up;-)…
my kids gave me another subscription for eight bouquets this summer… I loved the ones last summer… and this afternoon flowers arrived to brighten the dull day…
all in all, a pretty fine few days…
birthday week’s are fun;-)…

Monday another hole was made in the sky…
first thing in the morning a number of trucks filled up the street…
they were there to cut down one of the elm trees… I hadn’t realized that it had been marked…
it took four hours to get it down to the stump… and then they left… about an hour later a few of them returned and ground it down to nothing…
amazing how complicated the process is… it was interesting to watch…

as the birthday week celebrations continue, today I gathered with my BS buddies and they brought the birthday bag, a beautiful card, and cherry pie…
we have used the birthday bag for maybe twenty years… found this old photo from 2014 that has the bag in it, lol…
it used to hold a gift, but at this point in our lives we really don’t need anything, so now it contains a card…
this one was a beautiful painting by one of our group… it is a park bench and represents the bench that my beloved and I would sit on in the Leo Mol Garden during our walks…
happy birthday was sung and we had cherry pie with whipped cream… sooooo delicious;-)…
lots of conversation, laughs, and good eats…
now to be sure I don’t lose the bag before it is needed for the next birthday…

spent time in the garden because the sun was shining… and apparently that might not be the case for the next week…
enjoyed my book, even though I wore my jacket and had a blanket over my legs… mornings are always warmer on the deck than the weather reports, as the sun beats down on it…
later in the day I removed the tarp from the chairs and small tables on the back deck, folded it up and put it away in the garage…
I swept off the deck, placed two chairs on it, and moved the two others to the hot tub area…
starting to get organized out there…

took all the pieces of the arch out onto the deck and finished putting it together…
tightened all the screws and voila… done…
it looks very tall, and should work perfectly… sure hope it fits…
had to lay it down as the wind was picking up and I didn’t want it to fall over before it made it to its new home, lol…
still waiting for the last of the snow to melt so we can try it out…

Tuesday, the patio door was open for a good portion of the day… guess it is time to connect the spring again…
always such a treat when that day arrives each spring… spent a good portion of the day sitting on the deck…
started the morning in one of the new deck chairs… after I pulled out one of the cushions from the garage… needed a blanket and jacket, but the sun was shining;-)…
then I brought out the wicker set from under the tarp on the back deck… I purchased and put them together last year…
and got very comfortable… by that time the jacket was off and the blanket put to the side…
wonderful way to spend the first day that was warm and sunny enough to be outdoors…

on March 12, this is how the deck table looked covered in snow and with the very dilapidated old umbrella… and then on the 2nd of April when the new umbrella was installed…
Sunday, the chairs made it onto the deck… and Monday, the table got washed and the chairs set around it…
starting to look like spring;-)…

eventually I knew it would happen… the snow is melting;-)…
the concrete on the driveway is doing a great warming job…
and the grass is becoming more visible every hour as the sun shines down…
so exciting to watch the snow melt away…
